In the cedar temples of Kullu
The wooden temples of the valley are built without nails, and repaired by the same families for generations.
The temple of Hidimba at Dhungri stands in a grove of deodar, four roofs of wooden shingle rising over a stone base.
Like most of the valley's old temples it is built in the kath-kuni style, with courses of stone and cedar and no nails. The same carpenter families have repaired it for generations.
