Serolsar, a lake in the forest
A short walk from the Jalori Pass, a lake with a temple, a cook shop and no road.
Serolsar is a small lake in a forest of oak and fir, about five kilometres from the Jalori Pass on a level path.
There is a temple of the goddess Budhi Nagin on its bank, and the lake is kept clean by tradition: the birds, people say, pick out any leaf that falls in.
In the season a single cook shop near the temple serves tea, rajma and rice. There is no road, so everything is carried in.
Go early, before the day visitors from the pass, and walk back in the afternoon light.
